Here be the more detailed treasure map for our delightful "Despicable Me Minion Bookmarks," video.
The crew began by organizing the supplies. It was decided the minion bodies would be made from yellow cardstock pulling from Recollections Cardstock Paper, 8 1/2 x 11 Citrus Yellow
gave us two choices and we decided to cut both. (This also provided us with the perfect shade of gray for the goggles.)
Using a paper cutter, we sliced both the cardstock and construction paper into 2 inch wide strips.
Next we used a large coin (ours was a Canadian quarter) to curve what would become the corners of our minion's head.
Each overall strip was cut in half. Then, using the minion head we traced a matching curved line to shape the top of the overall straps. We then marked three, 1/2 inch guides along each side of the overall beginning with the bottom of the strap curve.
Deciding the straps should be about 1/4 inch in width, we marked that on both sides and then free-handed one trapezoid on each side, following our 1/2 inch guides. *Scrolling down a bit will give you better photos of both the curved top and trapezoid shapes of the overalls.
The goggles were traced by outlining a dime on a gray piece of cardstock also included in the afore mentioned packet.
You can see here two dime sized circles fit quite nicely. You also get a nice view of the goggle strap which measures 2 inches x just over 1/4 inch. We used a bit of artistic judgement.
After adding facial features, and overall details,
it was now time for the Sprouts to assemble their bookmarks!
